SDT205S Smoke Leak Detector

AUTOOL SDT205S Automotive Smoke Tester uses smoke generator technology, providing stable smoke output in large volumes. The smoke output can be individually adjusted through the smoke generator. It is equipped with a built-in air pump, allowing for real-time detection and maintenance. This method is more direct, accurate, and faster than traditional leak detection methods like soap bubbles and throttle valve cleaners. It is the ideal choice for repair shops.

Working Principle

AUTOOL Smoke Tester for vacuum leaks adopts forced combustion and smoke generation in a low-oxygen environment. The heating wire is energized through conductive columns, rapidly heating to above 300°C, causing the mineral oil to reach its ignition point and enter a combustion state. Due to the small intake flow, there is insufficient oxygen to maintain complete combustion, so combustion primarily occurs on the surface of the heating wire. The mineral oil residues, under high-temperature heating, cannot fully combust around the heating wire, resulting in the production of a large amount of smoke.

AUTOOL SDT205S Automotive Smoke Tester Features

Dual Mode: It has a built-in air pump and smoke generator, so there’s no need to rely on an additional air machine, making it perfect for mobile automotive repairs! It can produce smoke within 10 seconds, significantly reducing diagnostic time. Smoke output rate: 6 liters/minute.

Visible pressure gauge: By observing the pressure gauge, the presence of leaks in the automotive pipeline can be more accurately determined. If the pressure reading continues to rise, it indicates that the vehicle’s pipes are intact. If the pressure gauge shows a continuous decline, it means there is a leak in the automotive pipeline that needs repair. This makes leak detection faster and more accurate.

EVAP Detection: Since 1996, American-made vehicles have been equipped with EVAP service ports. In most vehicles, the EVAP service port is typically located within the engine compartment, though for some special models, it may be located elsewhere. Open the plastic cover of the EVAP service port, then use the valve core wrench to remove the one-way valve by turning it clockwise. After that, install the EVAP service port adapter and introduce smoke into the EVAP leak detection system through the service port.

Wide Detection Range: With a built-in air pump, the equipment can perform smoke leak detection across multiple systems, such as the EVAP system, intake system, cooling/EGR/exhaust systems, crankcase system, engine airtightness, vacuum leaks, low-pressure turbo leaks, and more. It is suitable for cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles, off-road vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, light trucks, boats and more.

Three-year warranty: For damages caused by non-human factors, AUTOOL promises to provide free replacement parts within three years. If you have any requests, please feel free to contact us, and we will respond promptly within 24 hours.

Operating Instructions

1. Inject 10 milliliters of baby oil into the detector for the first time. Open the hood and hang the detector on the hood.

2. Disconnect the pipeline that needs to be connected to the detector.

3. Connect the detector to a DC12V battery, turn on the power switch, and the detector will begin to operate.

4. After approximately 30 seconds, the pipeline will be filled with smoke. Check for leak points. Use a headlamp if necessary.
