TG501 Thickness Gauge

The AUTOOL TG501 Thickness Gauge is designed for measuring the thickness of coatings and platings on metal surfaces, such as paint/enamel/chrome on steel and paint/anodized coatings on aluminum or copper. Featuring dual technology, it can automatically identify both ferrous and non-ferrous substrates, making it ideal for non-destructive measurement of paint thickness on automotive surfaces.

AUTOOL TG501 Thickness Gauge Working Principle

AUTOOL TG501 Thickness Gauge is a magnetic coating thickness gauge that uses the principle of magnetic induction to determine the coating thickness by measuring the change in magnetic flux. When the probe comes into contact with the coating, a closed magnetic circuit is formed between the probe and the magnetic substrate. The presence of a non-magnetic coating changes the reluctance of the magnetic circuit (the greater the reluctance, the smaller the magnetic flux). The thicker the coating, the greater the reluctance and the smaller the magnetic flux. By measuring the change in magnetic flux, the instrument can calculate the thickness of the coating.

AUTOOL TG501 Thickness Gauge Operating Instructions

Clean the Surface: Remove dust, oil, and other impurities from the surface to ensure it is clean and smooth.

Calibrate the Device: Place the probe on an uncoated substrate and press the calibration button to complete zero-point calibration.

Measure Coating Thickness: Place the probe vertically on the test surface and press the measurement button to read the value. Perform multiple measurements and take the average to improve accuracy.
